Yahoo SSP is Being Phased Out
So, it’s true. Yahoo SSP is being phased out.
Which I guess we all should have see coming, but it’s disappointing, anyway.
For those who do’t know, SSP is Yahoo’s paid inclusion program, a way to get in the “free” listings. It typically converts better than any other source, but with a lower volume. So if an adwords account generated 30 sales a week at a 5-to-1 ROI, SSP might get 1 sale a week at 20-to-1.
We’ve often used it as a way to get in the door with a client – if they’re being managed by another agency, we say “Gotcha.’ Let us prove ourselves with these crumbs over here – crumbs they’re leaving by being greedy and not focusing on what’s in your best interest – and we’ll prove ourselves that way.”
SSP, you will be missed.
