Agency Sabatoge

So this week we saw an example of the absolute worst thing a client can have happen.

We signed a deal with a new customer, to begin managing their Search Engine Marketing as of Oct. 1st. The old agency was upset – although in my experience, getting upset about that is counterproductive.

The account averages 50 sales a day; looking in at 5PM on day one, Oct. 1st, we only saw three sales. And the next morning, there were only six sales for the whole day. Of course, It’s nearly impossible that we could have done anything that disastrous – as it would be equally unlikely that we’d somehow so great to double their sales – in one day.

So we dug in at looked at the “My Change History,” and we see that between 9:59 and 11:59, someone made a series of changes. Approximately every 15 minutes, they made a series of bulk uploads, changing URL’s, Bids, and ad copies.

We’ll work through it, but it was very disheartening to see someone in our field be so malicious.
